The center of San Antonio’s Southside is brewing a new business. Dutch Bros, an Oregon-based chain of coffee shops, is preparing to open on Southwest Military Drive, directly across South Park Mall, the former home of Long John Silver’s.
Representatives for the company were not immediately able to share an opening date for the location, but construction is underway. The frame and exógeno of the building appears to be nearing completion with interior work in progress.
A representative for the brand tells MySA Dutch Bros is «stoked» for its continued San Antonio growth. A concrete date for the opening has not been set.
The 2227 S.W. Military Drive Dutch Bros is under construction.
Madalyn Mendoza, MySA.com«Unfortunately, due to the nature of construction, we can’t provide an exact date, but we’re hoping to open at Military Drive this spring,» the representative says.
According to filings with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, work on the new location was expected to be complete by early January. Like most industries, pandemic-related issues have stalled construction for numerous new builds. The 950-square-foot Dutch Bros is estimated to cost $500,000.
The 30-year-old chain from the Pacific Northwest has aggressively expanded in San Antonio since opening its first location off Potranco Road in September 2021. There’s now a Dutch Bros on Kitty Hawk and in Castle Hills. In addition to the Southside spot, Dutch Bros also has Austin Highway and Huebner locations in the works.
